For several months now, workers in the Quebecor World factory in the United States have been trying to unionize. Recently, the U.S. labour tribunal condemned the Quebec company for a number of practices enfringing on the rights of workers. During the most recent stockholder’s meeting of Quebecor in Montreal, Quebecor workers came to testify about the aggressive and anti-union practices of their employer. The president of Quebecor World, Brian Mulroney, as well as it’s CEO Pierre Karl Péladeau, defended their role in these anti-union practices.
Several labour organizations in Quebec and Canada, including the unions representing the workers of Quebecor in Quebec, are in contact with their collegues in an attempt to see what can be done to help their cause which, in the end, is the cause of all Quebecor employees. It is well known that this Quebec-based printing and media company has become one of the largest multinationals in the world.
