On 18 January, nearly 100,000 persons demonstrated
against war on Iraq in approximately 50 Canadian cities.
In the United States, several hundred thousands people
demonstrated. Even if there were also protests elsewhere
around the world, January 18 was not planned as a strong
moment for anti-war mobilisation in most countries.
The first truly coordinated mobilisation against the
war against Iraq at the international level will take place
Saturday 15 February. Actually, it could very well turn out
to be the most important day of protest in World History !
In Europe, the call to joint mobilisation on that date was
issued last November by the European Social Forum.
In the United States of America, the call was made by the
United for Peace and Justice coalition. On their web site, you will find a partial list of cities where demonstrations
will happen on all continents. Among others, a huge
demonstration is planned in New York City. The ANSWER
coalition, which coordinated the protests on 18 January in
the US, is also calling to demonstrate on that day.
In Canada, demonstrations are already planned in Halifax,
Quebec City, Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg, Edmonton,
and Vancouver; and the list will grow in coming days !
In Montreal, the demonstration is organised by the Collectif Echec à la guerre. It will begin at 1:00 pm at Square Dorchester (Carre Dominion), corner of Peel & Rene Levesque (metro stations Bonaventure and Peel)
Additional information, as well as a small poster will soon be available at www.fiiq.qc.ca/echecalaguerre.htm
In Quebec City, we have obtained confirmation that a march
is definitely planned, the details of which will soon be known.

Spread the word !
If we all work towards this goal, we are likely to surpass the truly extraordinary participation achieved on 18 January.
In solidarity, against war !
