Alternatives has been working with Afghan organizations even before the fall of Taliban government. It worked with Afghan refugees in Pakistan, with partner organizations from the host country, and those Afghan organizations in exile.
Since the fall of the Taliban regime, Alternatives has worked with several Afghan organizations including the Afghan Peace and Democracy Act (APDA), Sanayee Development Foundation (SDF), Afghan Women Educational Centre (AWEC), Awaz, Afghan Women Resource Centre (AWRC), Afghan Study Centre (ASC), Afghan Women Network (AWN), Help Coordination Association (HCA), Afghan Returnees Resettlement Assistance Organizations (ARRAO), Training of Human Rights Activities (THRA) and others.
Alternatives has now been working with the above mentioned organizations on issues of peacebuilding between Pakistan and Afghanistan, formation of a media centre for the NGOs, publication of newsmagazines and journals like the Peace Journal brought out by the youth, children books, construction of web portal, etc. It has also worked in close collaboration with several government departments including the Ministry of Human Resource and Development and the Ministry of Agriculture.
