"The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine Lecture" by Ilan Pappe

Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights (Concordia Chapter) invites you to Prof. Ilan Pappé’s lecture.

Over the years Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights (SPHR) have earned a reputation for hosting so many events with critical content and world class speakers, day by day they work together in Concordia and other campuses to reach up to your expectations ... However this year is special as it marks the 60th year of Alnakba (catastrophe) and in this context they chose to go further and investigate what really happened with the Palestinian people 60 years ago.

SPHR invites you to their hit of this year with the world renowned Israeli historian and leading academic Professor Ilan Pappé in a lecture titled "The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine".

When? Tuesday - March 25th @ 7:00PM

Where ? Concordia University, H-110 (1455 de Maisonneuve W).

Prof. Pappé was born in Haifa to German-Jewish parents who had fled Nazi persecution in the 1930s. He graduated from the Hebrew University in 1978, and obtained his D.Phil. from the University of Oxford in 1984. He was the Academic Director of the Research Institute for Peace at Givat Haviva from 1993 to 2000, and is currently teaching at the University of Exeter in Britain.

His early books dealt with Israeli policy in 1948, a subject he has returned to in his latest book, "The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine". His "A History of Modern Palestine" covers the last two hundred years and focuses on cultural and social issues. His "The Modern Middle East" is a textbook that brings to the fore the social and cultural developments in the region in the last century. "The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine" will be available at the lectures for sale at a special price for fund raising.

SPHR is a non-profit, student-based organization that advocates on a strong social justice platform to uphold the rights of the Palestinian people in the face of human rights violations and all forms of racism, discrimination, misinformation and misrepresentation.
Through awareness raising, advocacy work, non-violent direct actions, solidarity building, and the promotion of Palestinian identity, culture and history, SPHR works to support and protect Palestinian human rights both locally and internationally.
